Our History
Founded in 1976 by Rob Lash, a University of Florida graduate with a master’s degree in building construction, Rob first specialized in commercial projects, including the Meridian Center on NW 43rd Street.
Dispersed throughout Gainesville, chances are you have stepped inside a commercial building built by Lash Development.
Over the years, Rob’s interest expanded to custom home building; as a result, Lash Custom Homes began influencing Gainesville’s residential construction market. After decades of developing neighborhoods such as Avalon, Weatherstone, Mill Hammock, Meadowbrook, Mill Pond, Ridgemont, and Willow Creek, Rob instilled his love for residential construction in his son, Shawn. A Gainesville native, Shawn became President of Lash Development in 2007.
While still in commercial construction, in January 2022, Shawn decided to focus the majority of his family’s business on custom residential construction. The resulting company, known for its perfect combination of quality, luxury, craftsmanship, and comfort—while meeting today’s high-end energy efficiency and building standards—is now aptly named Shawn Lash Signature Homes.
